In the broken safe, Maurizio Cattelan has discovered a metaphor for the bankruptcy of ideas in post-modern communication, or what Barthes termed “The Death of the Author”.

What kind of music do you listen to at the moment?
Wagner, mostly.

Where do you get news from? newspapers?
Anywhere, they are mostly lies anyway.

Do you discuss your work with other artists?
I try to discuss it with everyone: every piece is a test, and it needs to be confronted, criticized, destroyed and rebuilt. I tried to avoid my own opinions, and just trust the others.

Describe your style, like a good friend of yours would describe it.
Lazy.

Can you describe an evolution in your work from your first projects to the present day?
I try to move sideways: so there are no evolution, only digressions.

Is there any artist from the past, you appreciate a lot?
Warhol ueber alles.

Is there any designer and/or architect from the past, you appreciate a lot?
Borromini.

Any advice for the young?
Get old soon.

What are you afraid of regarding the future?
Everything.

{ Advocate.com } Two undercover New York City police officers arrested a man on hate-crime charges Monday who, they say, assumed the cops were gay and proceeded to threaten and harass them.

Tyrone George, 20, approached the cops sitting on a bench in Union Square Park and screamed that he hated “homos” and “faggots” and gave the sergeant the middle finger, the New York Post reported the authorities as saying. George later returned to the cops to continue his hateful invective and then threatened to assault them and spat on the sergeant’s foot, police said.

Though the officers purposefully exaggerated their relationship by snuggling, they were in the park primarily to curb local violence from gangs and students from nearby Washington Irving High School as well as the Union Square subway station.
